About Us

It all started with a box. 

In the two years of being home from completing his service in the US Navy, Coy had not reported to active duty in carrying out his wife’s “honey-do” list. With Stephanie’s birthday fast approaching, he could give her a sense of relief knowing that her list had finally been discharged but he wasn’t sure if that was the better birthday gift. 

“Best things in life come in small packages” would be a bit ironic after Cory gifted Stephanie with a box. Specifically, a custom-tailored makeup box. Amazed by his craftsmanship, Stephanie encouraged Coy to use his strong enthusiasm of creating things to build and his dedication to the art of its construction for other people. This led to their huge decision in 2022 to relocate from Norman, Oklahoma to a fixer-upper in McLoud. 

On account of Baby Bear’s (Jason) arrival, construction on their own home renovations was paws-ed. This gave Coy time to think of his early experience as a kid while working with his father on their rental properties and how now he was spending more time working in other people’s homes fixing previous handymen’s inferior craftsmanship. His welding experience gained during his time in the Navy would give him an edge when combined with his ten years of experience in the home repair & renovation business. 

It was time to think outside the box and make the dream a reality; Brother Bear Renovations was born.

What began as an inside joke between friends would become their company name. Both having old souls, Coy and James started calling each other “Brother Bear” and “Boo-Boo” Bear after characters in the early 1960’s cartoon “The Yogi Bear Show.” Yet, Brother Bear Renovations takes seriously in keeping their integrity and dependability intact when serving their customers whether it is a job started from scratch or fixing a former handyman’s ‘boo-boos.’ 

Brother Bear Renovations checks a lot of the repair needs boxes, but the most custom-tailored  box they check is their assurance they will take care of their customer’s home as if it was their own.
